Two-Component Waterborne Epoxy Primer for Sand-Blasted & Pretreated Steel

Based on Beckocure® EH 2261w/41WA & Beckopox™ EP 387w/52WA

REC19011 is a starting-point formulation for a two-component (2K), water-reducible epoxy primer for sand-blasted and pretreated steel. It pairs the allnex Beckocure® EH 2261w/41WA amine binder with the Beckopox™ EP 387w/52WA epoxy hardener to deliver a low-VOC anticorrosive primer for industrial steel protection.

Formulation

Composition by weight (parts). Component A is mixed, dispersed and ground, then combined with Component B before use.

Mixing ratio is Part A : Part B = approx. 2 : 1 by weight. Combine the two components only shortly before application.

Processing

  1. Mix the components I Mix all components I of Part A (deionized water, Additol VXW 6208 and Additol VXW 6393) in the stated order and mix.
  2. Add components II and homogenize Add components II (Microtalc IT extra, Kronos 2190, Bayferrox 3920, Bayferrox 306 and Baryt EWO) in the stated order and homogenize for 3–10 minutes.
  3. Grind on a pearl mill Grind 45–60 minutes on a pearl mill.
  4. Complete the paste Add step by step parts III, IV and V (defoamer, coalescent solvent, rheology control, methoxypropanol and Beckocure® EH 2261w/41WA) to complete the paste.
  5. Combine the two components and adjust Mix Part A and Part B (Beckopox™ EP 387w/52WA) shortly before application and adjust the viscosity with deionized water.
