Two-Component Waterborne Epoxy Zinc-Rich Primer

Based on Beckopox® EP 2392w/70MP & Beckopox VEH 2849w/80WA

REC18041 is a starting-point formulation for a two-component (2K), water-reducible epoxy zinc-dust (zinc-rich) anticorrosive primer. It pairs the allnex Beckopox® EP 2392w/70MP waterborne epoxy resin with the Beckopox VEH 2849w/80WA amine hardener to deliver a low-VOC, high zinc-loaded primer for industrial corrosion protection on steel.

Mixing ratio is Part A : Part B = 100 : 1.36 by weight. Combine the two components only shortly before application.

Processing

  1. Prepare the binder base (Component A) Mix Beckopox® EP 2392w/70MP with Additol® VXW 6208/60 and Luvotix P 25X, then add methoxypropanol. Mix for 3–5 minutes.
  2. Disperse the zinc pigment Add the Fine Zinc Powder and Sylosiv A3 step by step, then disperse well for approx. 10–15 minutes at 3–4 m/s. The dispersing temperature should reach max. 40 °C.
  3. Combine the two components and adjust Mix Component A and Component B (Beckopox VEH 2849w/80WA) shortly before processing and adjust the viscosity with water.
